Seattle, WA (prHWY.com) January 24, 2013 - Seattle is known across the world as the city of rain. People who live in this Northwestern city are always plagued with questions such as 'does it really rain that much' and 'how do you survive the rain'. While the rainfall isn't as bad as many people would assume, it does rain a lot in Seattle, which is why one researcher started a quest to find a way to decrease rainfall.

"It was my ultimate goal to find a way that would decrease the annual rainfall in Seattle by an inch or two", said the anonymous researcher. "I wanted people to stop asking regularly 'does it really rain a lot in Seattle'. That was my ultimate goal and I was surprised I may have found a solution."

The theory that the researcher started out with may sound a little crazy at first, but once explained it makes a lot of sense. The researcher believes that the use of a water heating system that uses tanks could result in an increase in rainfall.

"It was my belief that the tanks cause condensation", explained the researcher. "That condensation has to go somewhere and the air or clouds is the most logical solution available. When clouds are saturated with water it rains. So my idea was that the fewer homes that had hot water systems that used tanks in them, the less rain the city would receive."

While there was no way for the researcher to test his theory on a grand scale, he could test it on a smaller scale. The researcher rented a local college's testing room where they study different weather phenomenon.

"I was able to create a situation with hot water systems that use tanks were installed in homes and situation where the installation of a tankless water heater system in some Seattle homes. The results were pretty amazing."

It appears that the simple installation of tankless water heater systems in a home in Seattle could decrease the amount of rain that clouds produce. The experiment the researcher ran showed that there was at least several inches less of rain due to the installation of this type of heating system.

"This information could come in really handy during the fall and winter months", explained the researcher. "Seattle and surrounding areas always face flood conditions due to extra rain fall and snow fall. The installation of these tankless water heater systems could prevent millions of dollars of damage by reducing rainfall."

Experts in the weather industry say that more research and tests need to be conducted before they can comment on this further.
