Around 14 luxury cars have recently been involved in a smash on a motorway in East Asia and the collision included eight Ferraris, a Lamborghini and two Mercedes.

The damage caused to all of the vehicles has reportedly amounted to a combined value of £2.6 million. Some experts warn that the extent of the damage is so severe that rather than repairing, the cars may have to be scrapped.

Several videos of the crash have been aired across the web, with the disturbing image of bright red smashed Ferraris littering the road like trash.

Ten of the flash car drivers were taken to hospital with minor injuries but no one was seriously hurt. Police predict that the mass pile-up was caused by speeding and that one of the drivers lost control on the wet road whilst changing lanes and hit the barrier, spinning back into oncoming traffic.

Reports from Japan say that eye witnesses saw people driving at nearly 90mph and that the cars travelling behind the incident slammed on their brakes but failed to stop in time before the collision. The Chugoku Expressway in Honshu had to be closed for six hours whilst crews cleaned away all the wreckage. Two modest Toyotas were also tangled up in the accident.
