Australia Rejects the Happy Feet 2 Movie

As far as releases in Australia are concerned, Happy Feet2 has been an unmitigated disaster.

30-134 Kraków, ID (prHWY.com) December 12, 2011 - 3rd Dec 2011, Sydney, Australia - It was a bad night for Brad Pitt and Matt Demon when they attempted to take on the roles of Pink in Happy Feet2. It is particularly galling that an Australian producer has been blamed for the series and its mishaps. The global Box Office figures indicate that this is one of the less successful projects on the circuit. At the same time there are 600 Australians who are personally affected by the failure because they stand to lose their jobs in the process. It will make its debut in Australia on Boxing Day but they had already put out feelers across the globe. In particular they were interested in viewers from Europe, Asia and the USA. To say that the viewing figures have been dismal is an understatement.

A bleak moment for the Happy Feet 2 Movie

The movie was given a wider release on the international stage but there are still concerns about the direction that is being taken by the Happy Feet 2 Movie. First of all it only managed to bring in $30.3 million whereas the estimates were that it should have been able to come up with the $140 million budget that was used to make the feature. Some cynics may argue that the entire exercise has been marred by blatant incompetence and the inability to view the main issues that would be of relevance to the target audience. Despite the poor reception and the soul searching, the directors still stand by their body of work. Apparently they feel that they have been able to accomplish many of the things that they had in mind as opposed to the things that might have had a different outcome.

Europe may not be quite ready for the brand if information that is being marketed as part of this feature but that does not mean that this is a total failure. There is room for people to come up and enjoy the movie in due time. For example we know that the 2006 original was dangerously budgeted at $384.4 on a worldwide basis, a significant increment on the original schedules which quoted a rather modest $100 million. The cast was quite formidable given the fact that it included Brad Pitt, Robin Williams, Pink and Matt Damon. They could have expected that the presence of those luminaries would be enough to take them to the next level of achievement. In the event they have had to settle for mediocre returns and there is no sign at the moment that the public is going to be too enthusiastic about the project as it unfolds.

The other films that affected Happy Feet2

The fact that there were other great movies in the listings might have contributed to the woes that this feature is facing. They have to compete with the Twilight Saga franchise which is really making an impact with "Breaking Dawn Part 1". They also had to go against the Muppets which are a fixture in American society to begin with.
