On June, Sony announced that the portable console release date would be in late 2011, coincide with the holiday season. Then, on September 14th, 2011 Sony announced that December 17th, 2011 will be the release date of PlayStation Vita in Japan. The company really fulfilled their promise by releasing the portable game console on that date. Since December 17th, 2011 the portable console has been available at major retailers in Japan. Game enthusiasts in this country can enjoy around 26 games from the console. 325,000 units were sold on the first few days after the release date. Unfortunately, the sales dropped to 74,000 units in the second week.
