Falkland, NY (prHWY.com) April 4, 2012 - One of our pupils 11 year old Kieran Rae who attends Falkland House School will be one of the proudest boys in Britain later this year. Kieran, who comes from Twechar has been chosen as one of the schoolchildren who will carry the Olympic Torch when it passes through, Fyfe, Scotland this year.

Kieran has been finding out about the Olympics at his school, Falkland House, a residential school which caters for boys of all ages from the whole of Scotland. It provides education for boys with additional support needs including Autistic Spectrum Disorders, ADHD and Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties.
Earlier work on the Olympics at the school saw some boys cook a dish especially aimed at the requirements of an athlete - a project which tied in with the school's healthy eating policy which was rated as "Excellent" in the last Care Inspectorate report.

Falkland House School advocates the promotion of healthy eating and active living for pupils. The physical and emotional health and well being of pupils underpins successful learning and enables pupils to realise their potential. The school has gained both the 'Healthyliving Award' backed by the Scottish Executive and the Scottish Consumer Council and 'Health Promoting Schools Fife Award'.
Kieran, who started attending Falkland House in December 2010, is really looking forward to the big day which will be in June and admits to being a bit nervous at the prospect. He also knows it is a once in a lifetime experience and is determined to savour every minute of the day.

At Falkland House School, the safety, security and protection of all pupils are paramount. Pupils' rights are promoted in all aspects of their care. All policies, procedures and practice reflect current national and European Legislation as well as the the main principals defined in the National Care Standards ('school care accommodation services'). HM Inspectors and Care Commission Officers identified as a Key Strength "a strong sense of fairness and appreciation of individual needs." Links with parents and the local community were also considered a "Key Strength".
