CA, CO (prHWY.com) April 4, 2012 - 4.4.2012 When you think of life saving actions you usually think of heroic battles into burning buildings or diving into rough waters to save a drowning swimmer, but it in the case of New York area resident Chris Ottavi, it was not a lifeguard that saved him, but his dental office. Mr. Ottavi was shown x-rays and given a very thorough explanation of his condition. His top front teeth were in serious danger and needed to be handled. Upon first hearing this Chris thought about the financial costs but after listening to a very caring dentist by the name of Dr. Shilpa Trivedi, Chris realized that the real costs did not involve his wallet but his overall health. He was explained how his missing teeth would gradually cause a shifting of his bite, resulting in jaw problems which could trigger severe headaches. He was also told how the condition of his oral health would impact his overall health as bacteria would now be more able to get into his bloodstream through his affected gums which would then travel throughout his body to places like his heart and brain. In many cases this can cause heart attacks and stroke and Chris was fortunate to find out what lay ahead of him if he didn't take action to stop this destructive path.

The dentists and staff at Preferred Dental Care went right to work. Chris underwent a dental implant operation by one of the most skilled implant surgeons in the country, Dr. Iyer. Two dental implants were placed in Chris' mouth, solving the problem of his missing teeth, preventing the shifting of his bite and handled much of the threat to his gums becoming more infected. The overall care that was provided to Mr. Ottavi came just in time as we was sure to suffer greater health problems and could have very well ended up across the street in the emergency room at Flushing Hospital if it wasn't for the recommendations, genuine care and quick action of the team at Preferred Dental Care.
