Superstar Dentist Shares Celebrity Tips on Dental Hygiene
By following a few simple steps and avoiding certain foods, you can have the beautiful smile you've always wanted!

Dr. Dorfman makes sure that all of her patients know exactly what needs to be done at home for them to keep their teeth at their sparkling best. Some routine tips she recommends in order for her patients to keep their dental hygiene at their very best are:
Brush and Floss Regularly
This is a vital routine that we are all taught from the age of two or so. While most of us typically brush our teeth twice a day (in the morning and before bed), it is recommended that you try to sneak a third brushing in during the course of the day--maybe during a lunch break or directly after dinner. Also, be sure to stay consistent with flossing. Failure to do so can cause to trapped food causing tooth decay and the formation of cavities.
Avoid Excessive Soda
Drinking excess amounts of soft drinks are bad for your health in general but they can really play havoc on your teeth. The citric and phosphoric acids in sodas slowly dissolve your teeth when taken in large amounts. There is nothing wrong with a soda here and there, but if you're drinking several a day, you could be posing a serious risk to your teeth. Consider substituting water in place of a soda the next time you sit down with a snack.
Don't Use Tobacco Products
This is another no-brainer. The stains that tobacco products cause--chewing tobacco and cigarettes in particular--are more harmful that most people think. These stains are more than just unsightly...they can not only permanently discolor and weaken your teeth, but are the leading causes of oral cancer.
Use Fluoride Rinses Properly
Using the right kind of fluoride rinse can drastically improve the condition of your teeth. The right kind of rinse can strengthen your tooth enamel while also improving the whiteness of your smile. Dr. Dorfman and other leading dentists recommend that fluoride rinses be used directly after a good brushing and flossing.
So really, the basics of dental hygiene are really nothing new; these are things that we have all been taught since childhood. But even if you are later on in years, it is never too late to start practicing proper dental hygiene.
