CSL's Fluvax linked to convulsions in kids

The Vaccine produced by the Australian bio-pharmaceutical industry has been found to cause convulsions in children of 5 years of age, which has been attributed to the presence of excess viral particles in the drug manufacturing process.

Fontana, CA (prHWY.com) June 27, 2012 - 27 June 2012, USA (Acedrugstore.com): Fluvax, an antiviral vaccine produced by one of the major biopharmaceutical company, CSL against the common flu caused by influenza has been recently found to cause convulsions in some kids.
The vaccine which is already in the market has been linked to various adverse reactions in the young children due to over activation of the child's immune system by the viral components. It has been claimed that the improper manufacturing practices employed by this Australian company must be responsible for creating the mess with the defense mechanism.
An Executive of CSL said that the manufacturing process has left excessive amounts of viral components in the vaccine molecule, which may have triggered the susceptibility of children to convulsions.

And, since the immune system present in children is not that developed or active in fighting against the viral left outs, it may have created havoc in the child's body and his immune response. A two year study conducted in this regard has confirmed that excess viral particles are the main culprits in resulting convulsions in children.
Darryl Maher, vice president of CSL's biotherapies division related to medical and research, said that CSL is currently planning to correct the manufacturing process to ensure that all the processes employed by the company for developing the vaccine are safe and secure in addition to being very effective in treating children with influenza.
Fluvax has not got the nod of the FDA for use in children below the age of 5 years, since various health regulations in Australia have banned its use in kids following its reports of adverse reactions in hospitalized children.
Until, CSL comes up with the better manufactured vaccine for influenza through changing the viral load in drug, it has to abide by the FDA regulations and support the age related restrictions of the drug to market.
