MentorHealth to present webinar on "Elements of an Effective Case Review Process"
MentorHealth, a leading provider of online training for the healthcare industry, is organizing a webinar on November 21 on the topic, "Elements of an Effective Case Review Process".

This webinar imparts ways of conducting a legally sustainable case review to participants.
Periodic peer case review is an unavoidable part of hospital and medical staff leaders' work. They have to conduct, oversee and/or support a peer case review to ensure that healthcare practitioners are up to the mark in terms of their performance. Managed Care groups, Medical groups, Insurance Companies or other Payers that have established practitioner case review as part of their processes come under this process.
However, many a time, this assessment is left open to some grey areas, since it is usually subjective. Even when done with the best interests in mind; a case review is susceptible to fall prey to being accused of partiality, even when none actually exists. Many cases of case review have come in for litigation, being termed as illegitimate.
This webinar will deal with this issue in two parts. In the first part, it will discuss best practices in establishing a fair and effective case review. Some of these include
o case identification
o triaging
o summary of issues
o initial review
o response of involved practitioner
o case adjudication
o roles and responsibilities of the various participants.
The second part will be about how to implement these objectives in the real world. It will take a look at how some common pitfalls and fallacies can be avoided, so that the case review is legally unassailable.
