How to Replace the Power Supply of a Plasma TV

In addition to that, you'll have an extra expense of replacing the old, burnt power supply. Such a problem is quite common throughout the world with all the TV sets, plasma or not. Though this problem is seen less often in the newer and more improved models, many of the first models suffered from poor power supplies that were made for low voltage cathode ray tube TVs. Here is some good news though. You don't need to call in a repair guy to replace your power supply. You can just do it yourself! It's no rocket science, replacing the supply of your beloved plasma TV. So get ready to know how to do it.

Step 1:

First of all, you should switch the TV off, and then wait for at least 10 minutes for the capacitors to discharge completely. Now, find something anti-static to wear so that when you are working with the circuit board, the static discharge off your hands may not melt the TV chips. It can be a particular glove, or a wristlet.

Step 2:

Turn the TV around so that the back of it is facing you. Make sure that you know which screw came from where, so that when you are putting it all back together, you know where each of the screw goes.

Step 3:

After opening the back panel, you will be greeted with the sight of the main circuit board. A smaller circuit board will be attached to it, which is the power supply. Unscrew the circuit board, disconnect all wires and pry away the supply.

Step 4:

Put the new supply circuit board in place of the old one. Now, connect its wires with the main circuit board according to the notes you took while you were removing the damaged supply circuit. Re-screw the board screws. Close the back panel. Voila! Your TV is back on line.
