HEADLINES:
Gold above $1,750, up 1.4% on weak dollar,
technicals.
Gold rose above $1,750 an ounce for the first time in
five weeks on Friday, gaining 1.3 percent, as a drop in
the dollar and options-related buying triggered a
trading slightly higher
throughout early US dealings, gold surged suddenly to
above its 50-day moving average, a key technical
resistance it had failed to breach in more than a month.


Copper up on Greek hopes but China demand
weighs.

Copper rose, helped by a weaker dollar and signs of
progress in negotiations to get funds to Greece, though
gains were limited by concerns over weak demand,
especially in top metals consumer China. The dollar hit
a three-week low versus the euro, amid reports that the
International Monetary Fund and the European Union
Nov had narrowed their differences over the Greek debt
metals cheaper for European and other non-US
reduction target. A weaker dollar makes dollar-priced
investors.
