Dubai eGovernment has announced that it has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Emirates Intellectual Property Association (EIPA), as both parties reaffirmed their commitment to collaborate on various initiatives and leverage Dubai eGovernment's advanced infrastructure to enhance the delivery of eServices and realize their shared vision of building a secure, integrated digital society. The MoU was signed by Wesam Al Abbas Lootah, Assistant Director-General, Dubai eGovernment and H.E. Major General Dr. Abdul Quddus Abdul Razak Obaidli, President of EIPA, on the sidelines of EIPA's annual ceremony at the Dubai Police Officers Club, during which strategic partners and other high-profile figures who have contributed towards intellectual property rights (IPR) protection and eradication of software piracy in the UAE were honoured.

Both parties have agreed to explore various ways for Dubai eGovernment to implement its eHost solutions and services to support the development of EIPA's official website. eHost provides effective solutions to hosting government websites and web portals across an advanced, safe and reliable online network environment. Through the eHost services, government and semi-government entities are relieved of the burden of establishing an independent web presence on their own and are offered unified web-related standards for all government websites and web portals in Dubai.

Wesam Lootah explained that the signed MoU is a crucial step forward to realize their strategic goals and lead Dubai's eTransformation towards an integrated knowledge-based digital society. He lauded EIPA for their efforts to support the country's national plans towards building a secure digital environment based on creativity, innovation and reliability by raising greater awareness among individuals and communities about IPR and software piracy. "Offered by Dubai eGovernment, eHost provides an advanced and secure infrastructure to address the various hosting requirements, from content management systems to full web management tools, in line with the latest state-of-the-art technologies. It relieves government authorities of the complex tasks and investments involved in building their own infrastructure, thereby reducing expenses. In light of its advanced standards and programmes provided to all government authorities and entities, Dubai eGovernment is set to equip EIPA with the latest infrastructure and online security systems as part of its efforts to boost its status in the digital landscape and promote the UAE as one of the leading countries in the area of IPR protection and in tackling software piracy," Lootah explained.

Meanwhile, Obaidli said: "The new strategic partnership with Dubai eGovernment underlines our commitment to strengthen our co-operation with both the private and public sectors in promoting IPR protection and preventing the spread of software piracy in society. We look forward to working closely with Dubai eGovernment and optimally benefiting from its eHost services, which will help us achieve our mission of creating a safe digital environment and supporting the digital transformation of Dubai and the UAE. We are pleased to sign this MoU with Dubai eGovernment, which represents an important step in our march towards delivering superior eServices and driving digital transformation under the highest standards of reliability, transparency and innovation."

eHost is one of the shared services offered by Dubai eGovernment to promote the eTransformation of Dubai and create the necessary infrastructure to ensure its success. It is one of the effective solutions for hosting governmental and semi-governmental websites, from small and medium websites, web forums, emails, chat rooms and news to larger web portals and websites linked to sophisticated ePay systems and other electronic services.
