Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA), the government authority charged with regulating, coordinating and supervising all aspects of the maritime sector in Dubai, has announced its official sponsorship of the fourth edition of Mansoor Bin Mohammed Photography Award, as part of its ongoing efforts to promote the maritime culture among the local community. Held under the theme 'Emirati Coasts', the Award focuses on documenting the UAE's coastline and all aspects of marine life in the UAE in its various forms.

Ali Al Daboos, Executive Director - Operations, DMCA, said: "Our sponsorship of the 4th Mansoor Bin Mohammed Photography Award demonstrates the DMCA's strong commitment to support cultural events which underline the maritime culture and heritage across the local community, while contributing to the different segments of the maritime industry, reaffirming the rich and genuine maritime heritage of Dubai and the UAE."

"We are pleased to sponsor this year's 'Emirati Coasts' edition which is poised to have a positive impact on capturing the essence of the rapidly growing Emirati coasts and the maritime industry, which are key pillars of the social, economic and cultural life in the country. Emirati Coasts 2013 offers an ideal opportunity to celebrate the UAE's rich maritime heritage, namely its fishing and pearl-hunting practices, through the lens of young, talented photographers. We are delighted to be part of the Mansoor Bin Mohammed Photography Award which provides an integrated platform to support and encourage emerging talents in their pursuit of excellence in photography; one of the leading contemporary creative arts in the world and a solid tool to document all aspects of life in its various forms," Dabbous added.

Mansoor Bin Mohammed Photography Award features the major section 'Emirati Coasts' and a sub category that includes four general sections: nature of the UAE, architecture, movement and action, and portrait photography. A new category, 'Their Angle', has been added this year to encourage children aged 8-16 years to develop their potential and creativity in photography.
