(prHWY.com) March 18, 2013 - Seattle, WA -- Young children grew up on the 'Choose Your Own Adventure' books. This series of books allowed children to create their own reading adventure by picking and choosing what actions the characters did. Each book contained over 50 different stories and plotlines that children could read.
This series of children's books was so inspiring that is helped James Narrows create an entire new set of online IT training videos. These videos have then the IT world by storm.
"I remember the old set of IT training videos", said James Narrows. "They used old props, had cheesy sayings in them, and were just something that we laughed at as students. I vowed to one day create a set of IT training videos that would change how students learned. And that is exactly what I did."
The set of online IT training videos allows students to create their own curriculum. Students start off learning the very basics in the IT industry and then are able to 'choose their own adventure'. They are able to decide what areas they want to focus on, what videos they watch, and even who presents the classes.
"One of the really cool things I've created is the ability for students to pick their own instructor", said Narrows. "We discovered that some students respond better to some instructors. These "Choose Your Own Adventure" videos allow students to pick their own instructor."
The different instructors in the videos all present the same information. The real difference is in the delivery of the class. Some of the instructors present the stuff in a visual style, while others present it in lecture.
"We really spent a lot of time in making sure that student success was important to us", said Narrows. "It took almost seven years to create all these videos. I am so glad they are as successful as they have become."
Student reaction to the online
IT training videos has been tremendous. The first week the videos were launched over 400 students signed up for the program. Most programs only see 100 students sign up within the first week.
"We were so shocked that so many people wanted to take part in the IT training program that we built", said Narrows. "Today, we have over 15,000 students using the videos that we created. This has inspired us to create a program that is bigger and better and constantly growing."
