Mobile Apps Choosing the right development approach
We at Changepond have tried to make sense out of the fragmented cross platform mobile application market. There are basically three ways to develop mobile applications
(prHWY.com) October 11, 2011 - Chennai, India -- We have penned down our thoughts on the rapid evolving mobile application arena. This may be of interest to you and your organization.
Creating the perfect mobile application strategy calls for reaching the widest possible audience while maintaining the best user experience.
For software products and technology houses, it is just not enough to launch a mobile application catering to only a few platforms and expect to stay ahead of competition. At the same time, common sense dictates against betting heavily on an all out mobile strategy in a still emergent mobile technology space.
We at Changepond have tried to make sense out of the fragmented cross platform mobile application market. There are basically three ways to develop mobile applications
1) Native development: Apps written in the native language of the mobile platform allowing direct access to hardware features of the smartphone i.e. Objective C for iPhone/iOS; Java for Android,J2ME for Symbian etc.
2) Web App: Apps executed in a web browser that are developed using technologies such as Javascript,CSS and HTML5.
3) High level cross compilers: Sometimes referred to as 'frameworks' allow mobile apps to be written in high level languages that web developers are familiar with(e.g. HTML,CSS and Javascript) and then recompiled for different platforms
At first view it might appear straight to understand what you get from a native development and a web app, as shown below in Link.
