Television is changing along with the way it is delivered.
(prHWY.com) October 22, 2011 - Irving, TX -- Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, October 22, 2011 - Television is changing along with the way it is delivered. These days we get content from the web more and more, and many devices such as the Roku are contributing to that trend.
The Roku is an internet-based television device that allows you to stream shows from the web straight to our television. And you do not need to have a special type of television to do so. The box, which is only about four inches in diameter, will hook up directly into just about any television.
There are also no standard monthly fees when you buy a
Roku, although a few channels do have monthly fees. Many of the servides available on other devices, such as Netflix, are available on the box as well, eliminating the need to hook up your computer or laptop to your TV to watch a movie on the service.
It also functions as a DVR. Live shows can be paused and backed up when necessary, and most programming can be watched on demand.
Many people are finding the wide range of channels to their liking as well. There are a lot of channels that cannot be found anywhere else.
It is not without its drawbacks, however. The number of available regular cable channels is still somewhat low, and sometimes the
Roku can have outages or glitches. And, of course, if your internet goes down, so does the Roku.
That said, could the Rou change how we all watch TV? Time will tell.
