Loretta A. Lukic, LMHC, CAP, NCC, ACS, recently completed the first phase of EMDR training to become officially certified, and will be completing her second phase of training in June.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) has become an important treatment modality in the field of psychotherapy. EMDR utilizes several different therapy processes in order to diagnose and treat patients who are suffering from emotional disorders. Trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) are two disorders in particular in which EMDR is especially effective.
EMDR as a form of psychotherapy was originally developed by Dr. Frances Shapiro, and the overall goal of EMDR therapy is to help patients develop coping skills to help deal with life-stressing situations that have been stored in the brain and have been inadequately processed.
Ms. Lukic has been the Clinical Director at 12 Palms Recovery Center since June 2010. Ms. Lukic is responsible for the supervision of six counselors and therapists, is responsible for overseeing and implementing treatment plans for all clients, implements and maintains clinical training for all staff members and works with each therapist and counselor to alter client recovery plans when applicable.
12 Palms Recovery Center includes dual diagnosis as an important component of its overall recovery treatment program for clients suffering from emotional and mental disorders as well as addiction. The addition of EMDR training will certainly aid the staff at 12 Palms Recovery Center as another effective treatment option.
Ms. Lukic obtained her Masters Degree in Counseling-Clinical Psychology and has over 25 years' experience in the field of clinical psychology related to substance abuse.
