MentorHealth to present webinar on "Review of Respiratory Protection"
Respirators are critical for workers in a number of industries. This is self-evident, because no matter where they work and no matter what type of work they do.
(prHWY.com) November 14, 2012 - Wilmington, DE -- They need to breathe during the entire course of the work. Given their importance; respirators are subject to a number of important regulations, because they cannot be bought or handled casually.
OSHA regulations on respirators
Regulatory bodies have a number of stringent regulations. OSHA for instance, explains the reason for which it has regulations about this device. It has regulations since..."In the control of those occupational diseases caused by breathing air contaminated with harmful dusts, fogs, fumes, mists, gases, smokes, sprays, or vapors, the primary objective shall be to prevent atmospheric contamination."
It further states that ''...this shall be accomplished as far as feasible by accepted engineering control measures (for example, enclosure or confinement of the operation, general and local ventilation, and substitution of less toxic materials)." (1910.134(a) (1))
Thus, for workplaces that employ workers who do the kind of work that exposes them to the hazards of the nature mentioned above; regulations are very important guidelines towards ensuring employee safety. The workplace has to be free of hazards, but even when there are inevitable hazards; care should be taken to neutralize them.
