(prHWY.com) December 20, 2012 - Seattle, WA -- Go back 10, 15 or even 20 years and the Microsoft IT training courses were filled with individuals looking to further their careers and learn more about computer technology. While individuals today are still learning about computer technology, a new concern is often raised during Microsoft IT training courses - Facebook security.

"We had to recently redesign our IT training courses", explained Greg Ranger, an instructor of one of the many Microsoft online IT training courses. "Our courses used to revolve around learning how to de-bug computers, take out viruses and other things. Now, our students come to us with concerns about Facebook security."

In an effort to keep up with the times many of the Microsoft online IT training courses devote a significant portion of their time to helping students understand the whys and hows of Facebook security. These courses help students understand what problems result from using Facebook, what it does to the computer, and how people can stay protected.

"We were unsure if this was really a concern that should be addressed during our Microsoft online IT training courses", explained Ranger. "However, we had so many students coming to us asking these very questions that it had to be addressed. It was either that or create a whole new course just devoted to Facebook security."

One of the main reasons so many students ask about Facebook security is because clients often come to IT professionals looking for help regarding this social media site.

"If our clients are asking us about Facebook then their problems that they are having often stem from the site itself", explained Mary Wilson, an IT professional. "Most of my clients get viruses and odd pop-ups from not being able to use Facebook wisely. I think this new course will help teach me how to teach them what to do."

The reason for the addition of this new set of course guidelines was because many students were asking the instructors about this material. Instead of taking away from valuable class time and learning about it, it was integrated into the course.

"It seemed that no matter what I was teaching in my Microsoft online IT training course, Facebook always came up", explained Ranger. "The students would just keep discussing it and they missed out on some great material. Now that it is a part of the course, students won't miss out on it and we can address all concerns involved properly."
