Laptop and desktop computers, however, still have a role to play in the process.
Li explains that traditional computers have the processing power and access to data storage devices to smoothly capture video feeds.
"You'll still need a hard drive to store videos and more powerful IP cameras for capturing high-resolution images - both essential for a security camera system."
"In the meantime, though, an Android or Apple smart phone would prove to be a handy tool for checking up on a video feed or for capturing basic images."
