THE BEST SEPTIC SYSTEMS

Septic tanks are used to collect waste and sewage from homes that do not have a connection to the sewage main lines. There are various factors that depends on septic tank installation like land, soil etc.

Duluth, GA (prHWY.com) January 14, 2013 - In incorporated areas like a city or town, the homes are generally connected to a centralized sewer system or waste-treatment. It was estimated that as of 2007, in the United States around 80 percent of homes are using this type of service. If you are not associated to a centralized system, the best septic solution for you will depend upon factors like how much land you have available, the type of soil you have, and your feelings about using the system to benefit the environment.

Mound Systems
A mound system as having a septic tank for initial sewage treatment, a pump or dosing chamber, and a system of distribution pipes that flow through canal of sand and gravel covered by a mound of soil. Mound systems are considered to be good for locations with high water tables, porous bedrock, or soils that permeate too quickly or slowly to provide adequate effluent filtering.
In a mound system, the waste get separated into solids, liquids, and floating solids like grease or lighter waste when it flows through septic tank. The liquid then flows to the pump or dosing chamber, which controls the further flow of liquids through the perforated distribution pipes and ensures that the mound and surrounding grounds are not flooded. Before returning to the soil, the effluent is filtered through sand and gravel. To prevent soil erosion, the mound is usually overplanted with grass or groundcover.

Lagoon Systems
A lagoon system is a low-maintenance septic solution that can operate effectively for up to 30 years. The liquids flow down through a watertight pipe to a lagoon or pond. Wastewater flows from the home to a septic tank for separation. The effluent is then treated by wind, sunlight, temperature and microscopic plants and animals that feed on and digest the effluent. The size of a lagoon varies depending upon rainfall, evaporation rates, and water usage etc.

Aerobic Systems
This system uses pumped air and a greater variety of bacteria to hasten the decomposition of liquid effluents and solids. There are usually two chambers in aerobic septic tanks. The first chamber filters out several solids and hence improves the efficiency of the bacteria in the second chamber. The second chamber contains the bacteria, a mixing rotor that moves through solids deposited in this chamber, and an air pump. Once the wastewater has been treated, it can flow to a drain field or be used through a spray system that distributes the water over lawns, making aerobic systems a good choice for reuse of domestic wastewater.
