Bhavnagar, WA (prHWY.com) January 16, 2013 - When it comes to wine, the best wine is the one that you happen to like best, and don't let anybody tell you differently! However, if you're looking to expand your palate a bit, here is a list of our Top Ten white wines. Some of these may be a bit difficult to find, but if you're ever in the Pacific Northwest or in Canada's British Columbia, do go around to the local wineries, you'll surely find a wonderful white that will simply knock your socks off. But without further ado, here are the Top Ten White Wines.

10. Casal Garcia, Portugal

This delightful vinho verde or "green wine" from Portugal is not only affordable, it's a good crisp white wine with some nice citrus and apple notes. It's the perfect accompaniment for salads, light food, and is great on hot days. About $10 USD.

9. Stoneleigh Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, New Zealand

Described as perfectly sweet yet tart, this wine also has mineral notes and a great texture, making it a sublime exemplar of the Sauvignon Blanc varietal. About $15 USD.

8. Bandana Chardonnay-Torrontés, Argentina

This lively blended white from Mendoza features notes of pineapple and fruit. There's also an intriguing hint of spice, which is quite rare in white wines. At approximately $9 USD, it's an absolute steal.

7. Raats Original Unwooded Chenin Blanc, South Africa

From the country's coastal region, this white is light, zesty, tangy and doesn't get interrupted by a heavy oak tone. A natural beauty that is only about $12 USD. http://www.icohol.com/best-white-wine/

6. Frisk Prickly Riesling, Australia

Australia's known for its big reds, but it makes some outstanding whites, too. Nice and fizzy, while this wine might not be complex, it's not as "thick" as a Moscato. About $8 USD.

5. Trimbach Riesling, France

Floral, tropical and apricot aromas are the first things that one notices upon opening a bottle; it's also crisp, balanced yet rich with a nice dry finish. A great wine for those who prefer something a bit more complex. About $14 USD.

4. Tranche Cellars 2006 Chardonnay, Washington State, U.S.

This aged white wine has a good flavour of apples and oranges, is mellow but is still fresh tasting. Honeysuckle aromas and butterscotch flavours are only some of the layers of this incredible beverage. About $30 USD.

3. Cherry Point Estate Wines Gewürztraminer, British Columbia, Canada

From one of the world's newest wine growing regions, the whites from Cherry Point Estate on Vancouver Island are crisp, clean, and brimming with layers of fruit aromas and flavours. About $20 USD.

2. Black Swan Pinot Grigio, Australia

Dry and tart without being too acidic, this wine is ripe, full-flavoured and presents apple and floral notes. About $10 USD.

And our top selection for best white wine is....

Dobogo Aszu 6 Puttonyos Tokaji, Hungary

A very sweet wine, but what keeps this wine incredibly beautiful is the fact that it's got an almost explosive acidity. Marmalade, honey, straw and dried apricot notes make this wine one of the world's very best. At about $90 USD, it's the most expensive on our list, but it's money well spent.
