Northern Virginia's First Blow Dry Bar Opens in Reston, VA

The no cut/no color concept is open seven days a week and includes shampoo, blow-outs, hair styling, make-up application, and threading services.

VA, VA (prHWY.com) January 18, 2013 - Blow dry bars have enjoyed popularity over the past few years in major cities such as Los Angeles and New York City. It has yet to hit Northern VA- until now. Last week, Flow Blow Dry & Beauty Bar opened its doors and celebrated with a ribbon cutting ceremony that included the Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce's President and representatives, who presented FLOW with a plaque. Select guests received complimentary blowouts with Kevin Murphy and Moroccan Oil hair care products. FLOW is the first of its kind styling salon in the Northern VA area and is included in DC Modern Luxury Magazine's latest "Best of the City 2013" issue as well in the Reston Patch.

FLOW caters to women with all hair types who just want their hair washed and styled - no cuts or color. They can choose from a menu of blow-outs for $35, as well as a scalp massages, deep conditioning treatments, threading, make-up, and hair styling for an event, meeting, wedding, or night out.

A few days before opening, FLOW stylists, or "flowistas" worked with Teddi Cranford, a top NYC hair stylist who has worked in shows for Valentino, Dior, Miu Miu, Lanvin, Balenciaga, Louis Vuitton, Prada, and more. Teddi also styles hair for editorial shoots with high-end magazines like Vogue and is an Allure beauty expert. Flowistas spent two days, all day, on the latest blowout and styling techniques, the "New York" way.

New York City fashion designer & entrepreneur Samira Atash is the founder of FLOW and created FLOW after searching for a local place for just blowouts and hairstyling while visiting NOVA last year. With over 12 years experience styling fashion shoots, events and shows, Samira recently moved back to Northern VA and is bringing a bit of Manhattan style to Reston. Branding and décor of FLOW is a colorful, happy modern retro theme inspired by the late 1960's, a time when women would get their hair washed and set. An artist was hired to paint and illustrate each hair style for the menu, which include F.L.O.W. (Flowing Locks of Winsomeness), Willowy, Calypso, Wispy, Blowhemian, Flower Power, Va-Va Verve, Up & Away . The 1,300 sq. ft. salon includes six styling chairs, two threading chairs, and two make-up chairs.

FLOW provides a positive, energetic and environmentally conscious environment. The motto is 'pure, pretty, natural...blowouts with style'. Clients can enjoy a cup of organic juice, coffee or tea as they are pampered. Eco-friendly blow dryers and floors, non-toxic paint, and energy efficient lights are part of the build-out.

Product lines include Kevin Murphy, a sulphate/paraben free hair care line made from renewable resources, using pure essential oils, plant extracts and natural antioxidants. FLOW also carries the popular Moroccan Oil line, a nutrient-rich, innovative hair care line that uses an Argan oil blend rich in vitamins and natural elements. For make-up, guests enjoy Vapour Organic Beauty, an all natural line loved by celebrities, makeup artists, and beauty editors around the world.
