Pegasus, SAS and KLM Win Skyscanner European Airline Food Awards
British Airways, easyJet, Monarch and Flybe all reach the top five

Over 550 European travellers and bloggers took part as food critics in cheap flight specialist Skyscanner's second annual study of the quality of on-board culinary offerings.
In the low-cost airline category, Turkish airline Pegasus, which operates flights from London to many destinations in Turkey, took the number one position. British airlines dominated the leader board, with Flybe in second place, Monarch in third, and easyJet in fourth place. Spanish airline Vueling also scored highly, taking the number five spot.
In the short-haul category it was Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) that triumphed. Germany's Lufthansa came in second place and last year's winner Turkish Airlines took third place ahead of British Airways, whilst Russia's Aeroflot also ranked well, coming in fifth place.
In the long-haul dining category, Dutch airline KLM claimed the number one position, followed by Aeroflot, SAS, Air France and BA. Overall, SAS, Aeroflot and British Airways performed well, each appearing in the top five for both their long and short haul meals.
A Skyscanner survey of more than 1,500 international travellers also revealed that 54% of air travellers believe the overall quality of airline food is currently good, while three-quarters think that it is improving compared with previous years.
In fact, airline food now appears to be so good that 43% admitted to being envious of their neighbour's choice of meal.

Skyscanner's Victoria Bailie commented:
"Airline food used to have a reputation for being bland, but the quality of in-flight meals has improved massively as airlines place greater importance on serving good food at altitude. The majority of airlines have now realised that the quality of the meals does play an important part in airline choice and can sway regular flyers to travel with them."

Notes to editor:
For the European Airline Food Awards, over 550 European participants were recruited.
Each meal was marked out of 10 by the participant, who had flown with the chosen airline within the last three months
19 airlines across Europe were judged in the survey
Low cost airlines were deemed to be 'budget,' airlines with food available on-board to purchase. Short-haul airlines were classed as leading national airlines serving on flights less than 6 hours with free or paid-for food available in economy. Long-haul flights were classed for the purpose of the survey as being those lasting six hours or more
Survey was conducted by OnePoll in the UK and Skyscanner in the UK and internationally and results complied by Skyscanner
For the second survey, Skyscanner polled over 1,500 travellers from 53 countries about airline food.
