Of course, not all of the first aid techniques you will learn will necessarily be life saving techniques, but many of them will be. Time will also be spent reviewing how to treat specific illnesses and injuries which may arise due to the particulars of the specific environment in which you work. You will also learn to recognize injuries and illnesses which are severe enough to warrant further treatment, as we are about to discover.

Recognizing warning signs of potentially life threatening illnesses and injuries is in and of itself a life saving technique. Therefore, a significant amount of time will be spent on this subject during your occupational first aid treatment. Sometime, the signs of these illnesses can be quite subtle, and knowing how to recognize them can easily mean the difference between life and death for one of your co-workers. Stroke is one common such illness to look out for, but there are others as well.
