Clean and Green Energy is the Need of the Hour: Suresh Prabhu

Mumbai: 17th January 2013: The 2nd RuDiCON 2013 conference kick started here at the Indian Merchants' Chamber, Mumbai on 'Distributed Clean Energy: A Roadmap to India's Green Economy'.

Mumbai, India (prHWY.com) January 22, 2013 - Mumbai: 17th January 2013: The 2nd RuDiCON 2013 conference kick started here at the Indian Merchants' Chamber, Mumbai on 'Distributed Clean Energy: A Roadmap to India's Green Economy'. "Renewable energy sources are the pathway to get Rural Electrification to the last mile, "said Mr. Niranjan Hiranandani, President, IMC in his welcome address. " Alternative energy sources like wind, solar can add up with conventional sources and reach the last mile just like what the telecom sector has done to a country," he added.



"It is important for a huge and vast country like India to have Clean Energy sources even thought it alone can't satisfy out energy needs. We need to have hybrid grids in this situation," said Mr. Suresh Prabhu, Former, Union Power Minister. Mr. Prabhu also explained about the challenges such as transmission losses, environmental issues, legal hurdles which the Power project says now a days. He also emphasized the importance to have advanced technology in power sector. " In today's scenario, clean and green energy is the need of the hour," he concluded.



Earlier in his theme introduction Mr. Shailesh Haribhakti, Chairman, Environment & Energy Committee, IMC said," We want to take the content of this conference to the district level and we want to see the volunteers go out in the field and change the game."



Dr. Anil Date, Founder, Centre for Technology Alternatives for Rural Areas (CTARA) and Rahul Bajaj Chair Professor at department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Bombay, explained in his key note address the recent world data as to where countries stand as per the production of clean energy. He also explained the Limits Growth World Model 1972 which says how population will increase and energy will decline.



Mr. Alan Rosling, Chairman, Kiran Energy chaired the session on Successful Business Models / Enterprises for Distributed Clean Energy. Mr. Raghuraman, Founder of E-Hands Energy (India) Pvt. Ltd made the presentation on 'Affordable Energy Access through Hybrid of Micro Wind & Solar Power'. Mr. Raghuraman explained the Global perspective, India's opportunity, challenges, drivers and paradigm shifts in this sector.



Mr. Ameet Shah, Co. Chairman and Director of Astonfield Renewables spoke about 'Innovative Business Model for distributed generation of Solar Power integration CSR'. Said Mr. Shah," Energy access in rural Areas still remains a development challenge." He also explained the Models to integrate Solar Power access with CSR.



Regarding the 'Status and Trends in Energy Storage Towards Sustainable and Reliable Deliveries', Mr. Rahul Walawalkar, Executive director, India Energy Storage Alliance explained the role of energy storage in modern grid, different ways of storage, factors affective energy storage economies.



Mr. Jagdish Kolekar, MD, Controls and Systems, detailed the 'Experience on Promotion of Solar Lanterns and Building Capacities in Rural Areas.' He explained the ways and economies of promoting Solar Lanterns. Along with a 'TET case study, Dr. V. Venkata Ramani, Director, Thrive Energy Technologies Pvt. Ltd. Emphasis the importance of transforming lives by providing access to Solar Power lighting in Rural India.



Mr. Arvind Prdhan, Director General, IMC introduced the dignitaries earlier and Mr. Shailesh Vaidya, Vice President, IMC proposed the vote of thanks.
