Vancouver, Canada (prHWY.com) January 23, 2013 - Combination skin is what dermatologists call the condition wherein a person experiences two different skin problems at the same time--specifically having both oily and dry skin on your face. It's quite odd if you come to think of it, but it's totally not impossible.

Surely you are familiar with what skin care experts call the T-zone: the horizontal area on the forehead just above the eyebrows, and the vertical line from between the eyes down to the bridge and sides of the nose, and further down to the chin. These areas have a high concentration of sebaceous glands which produce natural oil to the skin. During our adolescent years, these glands work at an accelerated rate. That's why many end up with oily skin that often leads to whiteheads, blackheads, and acne formation. If left untreated, this problem may carry on beyond one's teenage years.

Unfortunately, many people find it difficult to deal with this situation because the widely recommended remedy for dry skin can worsen the oiliness of the skin, and vice versa. It's confusing and more often than not frustrating. But if you think about it, people today have it easy actually as far as combination skin is concerned. Today, there are plenty of skin care centres that can provide solutions for problems like this. People afflicted with all sorts of skin problems can visit a skin centre for consultations, buy any prescribed products and medications, or even go through invasive or non-invasive surgery.

If you don't want to go through surgery and other expensive skin treatments though, you can do the following skin care methods for combination skin:

1.Since you're dealing with two specific problems, it only makes sense that you may need to use two different products as well. Take note of the commercial products that work well, albeit separately, for oily and dry skin areas.

2.A mild, foaming facial cleanser is your best bet. Don't use ordinary soap because most of them have harsh chemicals that will further dry out the already-dry areas of your skin.

3.Oily skin doesn't require frequent scrubbing, but dry skin does. Skin rejuvenation keeps dry skin from looking flaky. So if you're going to use a facial foam scrub, don't linger too long on the T-zone and concentrate instead on the drier areas of your face.

4.Follow up the microdermabrasion with a dose of moisturizer. Again, don't apply too much on the T-zone because the moisturizer can worsen the oiliness and greasy feel of your skin.

5.A mild toner is an excellent product to use because it is corrective and regulates oil production, reduces pore size, and removes dirt and dead skin cells.

6.You can test out commercial products to find out which ones really suit you. Just stay away from skin products with alcohol, synthetic fragrances, witch hazel, and other substances that may irritate the skin so that the problem doesn't get worse with experimentation.

7.Also look for products that contain antioxidants and anti-aging ingredients. These address the very health of the skin, not only the surface concerns.

8.Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables and drink lots and lots of water. Avoid drinking, smoking, and eating food loaded with preservatives.
