Dept. of Financial Services Helping NY Residents with Insurance-related Issues

Trinity Catastrophe department has mobilized its catastrophe adjuster team and are inspecting, adjusting and closing Hurricane Sandy claims in New York.

Mandeville, LA (prHWY.com) January 29, 2013 - With thousands of Hurricane Sandy residents stilling dealing with their insurance companies, every imaginable complication has arisen, leaving many wondering where to turn for intervention. Now representatives of the NY State Department of Financial Services will be at locations in Suffolk County, Brooklyn, Staten Island, Queens and Nassau County to help residents with insurance-related issues.

Homeowners, renters and business owners are encouraged to speak to the DFS about any resolved insurance issues. Department representatives will help citizens contact their insurers if they have been unable to do so and answer questions about homeowners', renters' and business owners' insurance coverage. The Department's representatives will be available to meet with residents at the agency's Mobile Command Center, which will be stationed at these locations.

Suffolk County
Saturday, Jan. 19 - 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Amityville/Lindenhurst Home Depot, 1101 Sunrise Highway, Copiague.

Brooklyn
Sunday, Jan 20 - 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at PS 195, 195 Irwin St., Manhattan Beach.

Staten Island
Tuesday, Jan 22 - 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Stop & Shop, Great Kills/Eltingville, 4343 Amboy Blvd.

Brooklyn
Wednesday, Jan 23 - 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Jamaica Bay Home Depot, 5700 Avenue U.

Queens
Thursday, Jan 24 - 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at C-Town/Rockaway Beach Shopping Center, 8715 Rockaway Beach Blvd.

Nassau County
Friday, Jan 25 - 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at The Riviera, 200 East Shore Dr., Massapequa.

A hotline has also been implemented for call ins, available seven days a week. You may also call the hotline number below to ask any insurance related questions; it is not necessary to go to the command center. Citizens unable to go to the Mobile Command Center are encouraged to call the Department's storm hotline (800) 339-1759 which is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., daily including weekends. Insurance information is also available on the Department's website, http://www.dfs.ny.gov.
