Florida, FL (prHWY.com) January 29, 2013 - Florida, Jan 29, 2013 - Canvas artwork as part of their home decoration, it does not need to be limited to a single painting to fill the entirety of the wall. A common problem for home decorators is not being able to find a singular painting for the theme they want to convey. However, it does not have to be so difficult. All they need to do is choose several paintings with the same theme to fill the wall. For example, there is a lot of canvas artwork that has a theme of flora and foliage. Those that have a specific theme can all be used for a wall. It would have a bigger impact than finding a painting for the space. This is specifically ideal for homeowners that are indecisive; they can have a few paintings instead of choosing just one.

Canvas Artwork - It is understood however that they would still have a unifying theme. For instance, it is not enough that the set of paintings have a subject of flowers. Most of them should have a similar color palette used in all the paintings. The sizes on the other hand can vary so that homeowners would be able to do their own rearranging depending on the other pieces of artwork or fixtures on that same wall. There are also triptychs that can be taken advantage of. These are paintings in sets of three that form a bigger painting. Having more than one painting is also ideal for people who are not so fond of minimalism. Having more paintings would be handy especially for empty walls in the household.

Framing pastel artwork is the best thing you can do for your finished masterpiece. Unframed pastel paintings are notoriously hard to store, particularly in a way that will let you get them out often to admire them. Properly framed and protected behind glass, your paintings will literally last for centuries.

Pastel Artist - Preparation for framing your paintings actually begins when your surface is still blank. Plan to leave a healthy margin of at least an inch around the edge of your surface unpainted. That way if you later decide to frame it with a mat, it'll be much easier to do so. If you decide to frame it without a mat you can just trim the margin down, and if you decide not to frame it at all - no problem!

Some pastel artists spray their finished paintings with fixative. This protects the pigment from smearing, which can easily happen if someone inadvertently touches the surface. Fixative spray works great with oil pastels, but unfortunately with regular pastels it tends to dull the colors. Framing a pastel painting behind glass removes the need for fixative anyway, as long as the framer is very careful while they're doing it.

Pastel paintings have traditionally been framed with a mat, similar to photographs. One reason for this is that pastels need to be protected by glass, and the mat provides an air gap so that the painting is not touching the glass. However, there's no reason why clear plastic spacers can't be used instead of a mat to provide the separation between glass and painting, and some believe this looks better.

If you decide you want to use a mat, you'll quickly find that they come in all shapes and colors, and frames do too. If you have no experience it can be really hard to know what choices will enhance your artwork and what might detract from it. Experts generally agree that neutral mats (cream, white, gray, off-white) are best, and that the mat needn't match the painting, except insofar as a generally warm-colored painting looks best with a warmer toned mat, and a cool-toned painting with a cool-toned mat.
