Chana hits contract low, trend weak
Chana futures were down after hitting a fresh contract low, in step with a weak spot market, as supplies came in from the new season crop, the most-active chana contract for April delivery on the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange was 0.91 per cent down per 100 kg, after hitting a contract low of 3,366 rupees.
Chilli, Jeera remain weak on sluggish demand
Red chilli and jeera prices fell further by Rs 200 per quintal in the national capital today on sluggish demand from retailers and stockists amid adequate stocks. Weakening trend in futures market and hopes of higher output also put pressure on select spice prices. Red chilli prices fell by Rs 200 to Rs 6,300-11,000 per quintal in view of rise in supply followed by the arrival of fresh crop in the domestic market.
