UK Manufacturing Companies Hopeful for Further Growth after a Good First Month in 2013

Manufacturing companies in the UK continue to grow despite a decrease in product demand from overseas. According to a recent survey, this may be due mainly to the steady increase of demand in the domestic market.

West Yorkshire, United Kingdom (prHWY.com) February 12, 2013 - A survey conducted by the Purchasing Managers' Index along with the Chartered Institute for Purchasing and Supply showed that the UK has suffered a slight decline in export orders, from 51.2 to a modest 50.8 level. Many UK factories meanwhile continued production and are able to work instead on backlog orders since fresh orders were a bit scarce.

The fall of export demand in the UK was counterbalanced by the steady rise of demand for products in the domestic front, so financial experts are still optimistic. Increased demand for exports were answered by some of the poor countries in the European business zone.

Rob Dobson, the man who collates the survey for the financial data firm, Markit, observed, "A second consecutive month of improving business conditions in the manufacturing sector is an encouraging start to 2013."

Many are hopeful for some expansion this year as they expect increasing demands from outside Europe for the rest of the year. China, on the other hand, seems to be steadily climbing in the production side of business, although it is still a far cry from the levels they have experienced before the financial crisis of 2008.

"Many manufacturers are also expecting to secure some growth this year from new product launches and a continued push into markets outside Europe," noted Lee Hopley Chief economist at the EEF, the UK manufacturing trade body. He also mentioned, "There are reasons to believe this expansionary trend could be maintained in the coming months, with European indicators at least stabilising, emerging market activity improving and, a weaker sterling helping some sectors in overseas markets."

In Japan, the decline their manufacturing companies have been experiencing for the previous months have relatively slowed its descent while Korea seem to be just making even since experiencing considerable decline the previous months.

Similarly, since the decline of the Euro have frittered away last summer, financial analysts are also witnessing a decrease of downturn in the European market. Specifically, Germany has considerably stabilised, while Spain and Italy are experiencing some respite from their previously worrying dips. France may still have some troubled times ahead, though, since its demand and production levels are still enduring a decline.

In the U.S. Market, it has been observed the PMI rose to a record-breaking 55.8 percent in January and is expected to steadily increase in the coming months, which could mean a great start for the country's 2013.
