Major City to Use Storage Pods as Large Time Capsules

These time capsules allow people to place items and mementos in a safe place so people of other generations can find it. Most time capsules are made out of small boxes, milk jugs or other items, but one major city has decided to think big on the project and use something larger - storage pods.

"We have been creating a time capsule for a number of years", said the mayor of Chicago. "We were using one of those small boxes. Unfortunately, this only allowed us to place several items in the capsule. So, we decided to try something larger."

The city of Chicago decided to try for something larger that could be used as a time capsule. They purchased several used storage pods and will be using them as time capsules for future time capsule celebrations.

"The storage pods provide us with a large space that allows multiple citizens of Chicago to place items in the time capsule", explained the mayor. "Before we had to limit what we could put in there. Now, we have more space for more items."

Storage pods are usually used to transport personal belongings from one location to another. Over time they become worn and old, which allows rental facilities to purchase new ones. The old storage pods may still be used, but in recent years there has been an increase in interesting uses for old storage pods.

"We recently saw a rental facility use their old storage pods to create a statue outside their facility", explained a local historian. "Another place used the storage pods as playground equipment, but that took extra work and a little remodeling of the items."

The storage pods that are used as a time capsule will be placed in a small field near city hall. This was the only location that had enough space and land for the storage pods to be buried. When the time capsule is placed underground it has a stone placed over it so people know when to open it up.

"I think some of the future generations will be surprised to see this large capsule used", said the mayor. "But it allows all the citizens of the city to participate. Where the smaller versions forced us to pick and choose what items are in there. It'll be really exciting to see what items people place in there when we create the next time capsule."
