Seattle, WA (prHWY.com) February 13, 2013 - Many historical documents fail to reference the lifestyle of young children. The few references that have been discovered tend to only reference the activities and games that young boys engaged in, but a new discovery may change that.

A new set of documents from some of the earliest settlers to America show that young girls engaged in numerous fun girl games. The documents that were discovered not only show that girls had fun, but that they had their own set of games that they played.

"We were often led to believe that girls were trained from an early age to be housewives", said Joe Valley, a researcher who specializes in early American colonies. "These documents that have been discovered prove that we were wrong."

The set of documents were discovered in an old chest that was lying around an old Victorian household. The chest contained the documents and several other items that researchers believe were used for the games that the young girls played.

"Inside this chest we found several documents that gave basic instructions on how the fun girl games were played", said Valley. "The items in the chest look to be equipment that the girls used to play the games. There is a basic length of rope that we believe was used as a skipping rope or jump rope. There are also other items."

Joe Valley plans on working with several animation experts to recreate what these fun girl games would have looked like in early American societies. These animations will be on display with the artifacts as they make their worldwide artifact tour debut.

"We are taking these artifacts around the world as part of an empowering girl exhibit", said Valley. "I want young girls to realize that they can do just about anything, and I think seeing what young girls did for fun centuries ago helps people today have a sense of reality."

The artifacts and instruction booklet were believed to be a toy chest that was kept by one of the girls that used to live in the house. It is believed that she passed these fun girl games down to other members of the family and encouraged them to keep the tradition alive.

"We are very lucky to have such items in our possession", said Valley. "Think of the hundreds of artifacts and girls who played similar games like this but didn't keep the items. This is truly a rare and exciting discovery, and I'm thrilled to be sharing it with people."
