Skill Development Program May Increase Number Of Manassas Plumbers
The number of Manassas plumbers offering their services to the public may suffer an increase, after Virginia's Dimwiddie High School revealed their plans to launch a skill development program for its students.

This program comes about as part of a bid to approach student preparation for the job market in a different way. A series of conferences led by director of secondary technical education Sharon Yates and attended by county leaders and local business owners, sought to steer Dimwiddie's curriculums away from the purely academical, to allow for a more technical side.
Unlike the academically-driven courses, technical courses at the school lack direction, with students being placed wherever there are holes to be filled. As a result, the students finish their secondary education with few marketable specialized skills.
This program aims to combat that situation, simultaneously helping make the local job market - heavy in nurses, construction and fast food workers but lacking in specialized technicians - a bit more balanced.
Manassas plumbers will not be the only technical professionals to come out of the course, which aims to produce skilled workers for all technical and service areas.
