David Swanton Announces Lifelong Interest in History
Despite studying math and English in school, David Swanton has been a lifetime scholar of all topics related to history.

David Swanton thinks that history, much like art and music, are topics that deserve as much attention as science and math. David would know, as he earned his GCSE in math and English while also studying Computer Studies from the Open University in England. Despite having such a strong technical background, he knows the importance of history and the skills it teaches.
David Swanton explains, "History is not just about memorizing dates and facts. History teaches students to think critically, to research, and to discover the intricate and complicated reasons behind why things happen the way they do. Not many subjects can teach these lessons as humanely as history does."
David Swanton hopes that more educators realize the importance of providing a strong background in history. Without knowing where we have come from, how will people know where to go? This is a question that only history can answer.
The primary focus of David Swanton lifelong interest in the subject of history is in military history. The history of World War II has always been a strong point of intrigue for David when seeking out historical information. Growing up in London which suffered so greatly from the Second World War, sparked much of his interest in military history. In addition, David Swanton's twelve years of service in the Royal Air Force gives him a connection to an organization that was so pivotal in the defense of England during World War II.
