Like CAT 2012, MBAUniverse.com is offering readers live coverage of CMAT. Our team of reporters and photographers visited a number of test centres and collected information from aspirants so that we can present you all the necessary facts from the spot.
Rachit of Delhi-NCR said the paper was average in terms of the difficulty level compared with other exams like CAT or XAT. The Quant section had two questions from P&C, five from geometry, four from algebra, and three each from functions and number system. Data Interpretation consisted of questions based on bar diagrams and charts.
The Verbal section had most of the questions from para jumbles and idioms (4 each). Vocabulary & fill in the blanks had two questions each. There were four passages which were very short. 'Match the following'-type questions were also there. Reasoning was easy to attempt.
The General Knowledge section was the easiest of all with majority questions being based on current affairs. Some questions were like: Who won the Women Cricket World Cup, Name the current Army and Naval chief of India, Which finance minister started economic reforms, etc. Questions were also asked on SAARC and the IMF.
CMAT, conducted by the AICTE, is the only gateway to MBA admissions under the government quota from the coming academic year, instead of the State-administered Post graduate Common Entrance Test (PGCET). So, more and more states are coming into the CMAT fold. It has forced AICTE to conduct the test again in May.
