Vijay Chhibber appointed as Secy of Ministry of Road Transport & Highways

Shri Vijay Chhibber is on central deputation and was holding the charge of Secretary, Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare from 10.09.2012 to 31.1.2013.

Navi Mumbai, India (prHWY.com) February 21, 2013 - New Delhi: Shri Vijay Chhibber assumed charges as the Secretary, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. Chhibber replacing Shri AK Upadhyay, hails from the 1978 batch and belongs to the Manipur Tripura Cadre. He is on central deputation and was holding the charge of Secretary, Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare from 10.09.2012 to 31.1.2013.

Shri Chhibber has earlier served as the Special Secretary & FA Ministry of Road Transport and Highways & Ministry of Shipping. He has also delivered his expertise as an Additional Secretary and Financial Advisor, Ministry of Shipping, Road Transport & Highways. Shri. Chhibber served as Joint Secretary to the Government of India, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilisers. He held several posts in both the State and Central Governments and was the Under Secretary and Deputy Secretary in the Department of Commerce, Deputy Director in AIIMS, Director in Cabinet Secretariat and Joint Secretary in Department of Fertilizers. He has also worked as Deputy and Joint Secretary in the Departments of Energy, Public Works, as Director in Department of Industries and Secretary to the Chief Minister Manipur. He was also a District Magistrate of Ukhrul District in Manipur. He has held the post of Principal Secretary/Commissioner, Government of Manipur with responsibilities relating to Finance, Health, Education, Public Health & Engineering, Social Welfare, Tribal Welfare, Elections, etc. He has also been the Chief Election Officer of the State of Manipur.

He has been a Director of Mountney since February 24, 2006. He served as Director of Indian Potash Limited since February 24, 2006. He served as Director of Indian Indian Road Construction Corporation Ltd. since January 15, 2009. He served as a Part-time Official Director of Shipping Corp. of India from December 26, 2008 to September 21, 2012. He served as Director of Madras Fertilizers Ltd. until January 30, 2009. He served as a Non-Executive Director of National Fertilizers Ltd. from August 30, 2005 to December 1, 2008. He served as a Part-time Director of The Fertilisers And Chemicals Travancore Limited since September 5, 2005 and also served as its Director. Shri. Chhibber is an Alumni of the National Defence College.
