School Trips Should Continue, Report Says

The results of a recent report have defended the continuation of school trips, as they showed accidents are more likely to happen within school than on outdoor field trips or activities.

London, United Kingdom (prHWY.com) February 25, 2013 - The results of a recent report have defended the continuation of school trips, as they showed accidents are more likely to happen within school than on outdoor field trips or activities.

The Royal Society For The Prevention of Accidents report showed that school-aged children are more likely to contract injuries whilst playing sports at school than during a hiking trip. Accidental deaths, one of the main concerns parents have with regards to school trips, were also deemed very rare, and no real cause for alarm.

The report, directed at parents and school personnel, also highlighted the physical, social and educational benefits of school trips, whilst offering responsible parties tips on organizing and overseeing them.

David Rushton, of RoSPA, considers schools should focus on real-life risk assessment, as provided by outdoor activities, rather than hypothetical or theoretical danger.
