Noida, India (prHWY.com) February 26, 2013 - As the second window of CMAT for MBA admissions to the 2013-14 academic year closed on February 25, AICTE chairman Dr SS Mantha hailed CMAT as a 'big success' for AICTE and nearly 1.55 lakh candidates who appeared for the test.

"The CMAT has been very successful with nearly 1.55 lakh candidates appearing for the second test for 2013-14 admissions," he said in an interview to MBAUniverse.com, adding "AICTE is proud to have conducted the 5-day window of the CMAT without any glitch."
"We are proud to have conducted the test successfully. It was a glitch-free experience for candidates and not a single question was found wrong during the entire test period," he said.

The 5-day CMAT February 2013 began on February 21. It offered participants scopes to get admitted to some of the top university and private B schools in the country.

Speaking on the CMAT test in May which will be a kind of supplementary for the last two CMAT exams, he said, "We will conduct the next test in May. This CMAT test will only accept candidature of those who missed out one of the last two CMAT tests."

But Dr Mantha clearly indicated this is only an additional CMAT test for this year and not the third CMAT test of the season. "We have introduced the additional May CMAT for this year only. This is not the third test and organizing the additional test will not be a regular practice in future," he said.

Bringing relief to thousands of MBA aspirants seeking seats under the government quota, the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) had earlier announced another testing window of the CMAT in May. Though the final dates have not been fixed yet, it may take place on May 17-19. The registration for May CMAT will begin in the first or second week of March, said Dr Mantha.

"The May CMAT will be an opportunity for those who could not appear for either September 2012 CMAT test or February 2013 CMAT test," he said, adding, " Some of the states had accepted CMAT scores lately and could not notify it before the February CMAT. The May CMAT will help students from Karnataka, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh and a few other states that have only recently come under the AICTE umbrella to be eligible for the admission in 2013-14."

A detailed interview with Dr Mantha will be published soon.
