New UAV Benefits from New Hood Tech Sensor Turret

The air frame used for the US Navy's RQ-21A small UAV recently flew with Hood tech's latest turret, featuring mid-wave infrared, high-zoom electro-optical imaging, and laser pointer.

Hood River, CA (prHWY.com) March 1, 2013 - Hood River, OR, March 01, 2013 -- The Portland Business Journal reports (www.bizjournals.com/portland/morning_call/2013/02/insitu-tests-new-unmanned-aircraft-in.html) that the US Navy's RQ-21A aircraft recently was test-flown in eastern Oregon with "an improved sensor turret, which includes the latest mid-wave infrared sensor with onboard image stabilization". The turret referenced is Hood Tech's Alticam 11 EOIR2, which also includes a laser range-finder to provide comprehensive capability to spot and identify objects of interest for both military and non-military applications. The new turret "helps imagery analysts see...during day and night missions". "As an Oregon company, we are pleased to be located so close to the test site", said Lars Bergstrom, the Chief Operations Officer for Hood Tech Vision, which produces the turret. "We benefit from the location, and we think our technology is leading the way for small UAV imaging systems."
