Small Business Owner Drew Shytle Uses Product to Show Concern for Newtown, Connecticut Community

Lexington, NC (prHWY.com) March 5, 2013 - The recent and tragic events that occurred in Newtown, Connecticut were devastating to Drew Shytle. Drew Shytle is a father and cannot imagine the intense grief felt by the families and community members of Newtown, Connecticut. "A lot of people around town were talking about how badly they felt. I started thinking about what we could do as a community to reach out," says Drew Shytle. Newtown, Connecticut and Lexington, North Carolina are both small towns. Neighbors know each other. Children attend school together and play sports on a few local teams. Drew Shytle noticed a lot of similarities between the two towns. He didn't want the residents of Newtown to feel isolated in their grief. Drew Shytle wanted to let Newtown residents know that the community in Lexington was concerned for them.

Drew Shytle is the owner of a small business in Lexington, North Carolina. His business Legit Cornhole creates custom cornhole game boards. Drew Shytle decided to create a handmade cornhole board for the community of Newtown. He didn't want the gift to be just from his company or him; he wanted the whole town of Lexington, North Carolina to be involved. Drew Shytle made the board available so that residents could add their signatures to the cornhole board as a gesture of solidarity and support for the Newtown community. Word travels fast in a small town. Response to the board was overwhelming. "I quickly realized that one board was not going to be enough," says Drew Shytle. Legit Cornhole created more boards and more signatures were collected from the Lexington community. "The amount of people who showed up to sign the boards was incredible. The personal messages of support are really touching," says Drew Shytle.

"If these cornhole boards are able to bring any happiness or serve as a short distraction for the people of Newtown, Connecticut, I would be very gratified," says Drew Shytle. Drew Shytle was delighted by the outpouring of support from his community in Lexington for the cornhole board idea. "The community of Lexington is incredibly supportive. I knew we would be able to send a clear message of community support to the people in Newtown, Connecticut," says Drew Shytle.
