Dubai Maritime City Authority raises awareness about maritime safety instructions during Dubai International Boat Show 2013

Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA), the government authority charged with regulating, coordinating and supervising all aspects of the maritime sector in Dubai, is participating today in the Dubai International Boat Show 2013 which runs from March 5th to 9th, at the Dubai International Marine Club, Mina Seyahi.
Through its private pavilion, the Authority is set to host live demonstrations targeting users and operators of leisure boats and jet skis, to raise greater awareness about maritime safety standards and best practices while sailing, including the proper use of lifejackets, helmets and other equipments.
To promote better safety practices and maintain a safe, highly developed maritime sector in Dubai, DMCA will be distributing maritime safety awareness leaflets, in addition to the live demonstrations on maritime practices, safety equipments and safe navigation of vessels through the proper implementation of safety procedures and techniques while sailing.
The initiative complements the Authority's ongoing efforts to increase public awareness about safety equipments and the need to abide by the traffic and maneuver management rules, sailing and anchoring areas and the precautionary measures to avoid potential accidents.
Amer Ali, Executive Director, Dubai Maritime City Authority, said: "Our main focus is to raise public awareness among water sports enthusiasts through awareness campaigns, participation in
industry events and cooperation and collaboration with other Dubai-based maritime industry-related authorities."

During the event, we look forward to providing an overview of various safety procedures, such as the proper use of lifejackets and helmets, and following early weather warnings and sea guidelines."
