Gold futures edged higher on Tuesday, holding slight gains for a second consecutive session as physical buying picked up following the metal's slump to seven-month lows. The most actively traded contract, for April delivery, rose $2.50, or 0.2%, to settle at $1,574.90 a troy ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange. Futures had climbed as high as $1,585.80 a troy ounce early Tuesday, building off of overnight gains as Asian buyers of the metal stepped back into the market."We are seeing strong and growing support for gold from the physical market," said Marc Ground, an analyst with Standard Bank. The buying activity appears widespread across Southeast Asia and, therefore, does not appear to be a result of country-specific factors but rather is due to general enthusiasm for the metal at these low prices...
