IMPACT 2013 is all about WWW - Win Win Women
Every year, IMPACT celebrates women and their huge contribution to the nation. This year the conclave is scheduled to be held on 9th March 2013 at The Taj Mahal Palace, Crystal Room, between 10 a.m. and 5p.m.

For the first time after the three-member commission headed by Justice J. S Sharma, former Chief Justice of India recommended legal reforms for the safety of women in India, the honorable chairman of the commission will speak on the tragedy that befell of Nirbhaya and what India is doing to avoid such heinous crimes in the future.
Justice Jagdish Sharan Verma will describe in detail the measures recommended by his commission for women's right to safety and security in India. He will deliver the keynote address at IMPACT, the annual International Women's Day Conclave of the Ladies' Wing of the Indian Merchants' Chamber. The Justice J. S. Verma Committee recently submitted its report to the Home Ministry on Amendments to Criminal Laws relating to the safety and security of women in India today.
The Chief Guest of the Conclave, Hon'ble Shri Ashwani Kumar, Union Minister for Law and Justice, will further support the cause of women with an informative talk on the future challenges and the role of women in the coming years.
Ms. Darshana M Doshi, President, Ladies' Wing of IMC expressed that "IMPACT is a celebration for women all over the World to gather together and feel one with each other for many of their causes, safety being one of the most important issues to tackle. The bonding and networking would be of great assistant to women in boosting the self confidence of other women".
Ms. Rajyalakshmi Rao, Chairperson of IMPACT Committee stated that "This year's IMPACT has given lo of importance to safety of women, keeping in view of horrible crime against women across the country. Nirbhaya case has not only shocked INDIA but rest of the World has taken Cognizance of this horrendous event in India. The First Lady of US, Ms. Michelle Obama is also posthumously honoring Nirbhaya with a bravery award for her courage. Justice Verma, who has given the recommendation to the government, is going to highlight the recommendation of his report. Union Law Minister Shri Ashwin Kumar is addressing the future of women at the cross roads in India."
On this important day, the Indian Merchants' Chamber and the Ladies' Wing of the Chamber will felicitate and celebrate the impressive work and achievements of wining women, who have lit-up 2012-2013 with their innovations, ideas and ambitions.
To make the programme more remarkable and eventful there will be a highly inspiring line-up of sessions included to honour the power called "WOMANHOOD". There is a thought-provoking session moderated by Ms. Shaina NC with power-packed panel of Guest Speakers, namely Ms. Smriti Irani, Rajya Sabha Member and Mr. Satyapal Singh - Mumbai Police Commissioner. Both of these luminaries will discuss the implementation of laws for women's security and safety.
IMPACT honours women from all walks of life and this will be highlighted with a unique media interaction with the young and personable Ms. Gauri Shinde, director of "English Vinglish" a unique movie, and Ms. Hemanti Sarkar, the editor of acclaimed films like "English Vinglish" and "Parineeta". There will also be a brilliant discussion on Winning Options for Women, which will feature Mumbai's well-known Family Law Expert; Ms. Mrunalini Deshmukh, Ms. Varsha Gaikwad; Minister for Women and Child Development, Maharashtra and Psychotherapist Dr. Anjali Chchabria.
IMPACT will also present the divine music of Ankita Joshi, the outstanding disciple of Sangeet Martand Padma Vibhushan Pandit Jasraj as well as a thrilling show of Sufi dances and songs. There will be several other entertainment items to add a zing to the day. All those interested in making India a great country for women are invite to participate in IMPACT and make it a grand success.
About Ladies' Wing of the Indian Merchants' Chamber
The Ladies' Wing of the Indian Merchants' Chamber is a premier business and professional women's organization with around 2000 members, consisting of entrepreneurs, managers, professionals and women from leading business houses. The activities of the Wing inspire, motivate and encourage women to participate in entrepreneurial activities. The Wing invites speakers and arranges panel discussions and workshops. Educational and industrial visits are organized by the Wing to give exposure to aspiring entrepreneurs. Business delegations are taken abroad and the Wing also hosts delegations from different countries. The Wing has recently started a legal aid and advice cell for women.
The main focus of the IMC Ladies' Wing is to take up important issues concerning the raising of women's status and inspire them to be successful, stylish and self reliant with confidence.
Ladies' Wing of IMC under the leadership of Ms. Darshana M Doshi, President and Chairperson Dr. Snehalata Deshmukh and Co-Chairperson Dr. Rupa Shah have initiated a programme on "Prevention of Defects in Children", which was inaugurated by His Excellency Governor of Maharashtra Mr. K. Sankaranarayanan and Mrs. Radha Sankaranarayanan. This statewide mass health programme highlighted how thousands of deformed children were born as a result of mothers' ignorance about nutrition. The Governor had proposed that the Maharashtra Government should conduct a study about prevention of birth defects in children; and based on the study, a similar project should be launched for the benefit of the entire population. The Governor had handed over a large box containing Folic Acid tablets to Dr. Nandanwar of Sion Hospital and another box full of iron tablets to Dr. Devkar for free distribution among slum-dwellers in Dharavi. This is an ongoing initiative of the Ladies Wing of IMC.
