Famous Laughing Madcaps Syd Barrett Group Now on Facebook

The world famous Laughing Madcaps Syd Barrett Group is now on Facebook. The new Facebook site for the group is rapidly approaching 1,000 members. This is the perfect group for fans of Syd Barrett, or early Pink Floyd.

Phoenix, AZ (prHWY.com) March 11, 2013 - Phoenix, AZ, March 01, 2013 -- The world famous Laughing Madcaps Syd Barrett Group is now on Facebook. The group started back in 1998, on the old eGroups, and spent the last 15 years on Yahoogroups after they bought out the eGroups interface. Over the last year, the group has been steadily migrating over to Facebook.

Syd Barrett was a British singer, songwriter, guitarist, and painter, best remembered as a founder member of the band Pink Floyd. He was the lead vocalist, guitarist, and primary songwriter during the band's psychedelic period, providing major musical and stylistic direction in their early work. He was the principal force on the group's first album: Piper at the Gates of Dawn. He wrote and performed on several of the group's singles: Arnold Layne, See Emily Play, Candy and a Currant Bun. He wrote only one song on the group's follow up album: A Saucerful of Secrets. He left the group in April, 1968 and then recorded two of the original "outsider" records: The Madcap Laughs and Barrett. He spawned a, still growing, worldwide musical cult and became the muse of later Pink Floyd influencing Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here and The Wall.

This is the perfect group for fans of Syd Barrett, or early Pink Floyd. In fact, fans of Progressive rock groups and artists like: King Crimson, Genesis, Yes, Soft Machine, Fripp, Eno, Camel, UK, Asia, Gentle Giant will love the group.

The Laughing Madcaps Group is most famous for creating, and making available for free, the amazing Have You Got It Yet? Set of unreleased Syd Barrett and early Pink Floyd material. This is a nineteen CD collection of unreleased material. Much of the material came from clones of 1st gen tapes (all of disc 3, for example). From there, the sound was enhanced digitally -- distortion and tape hiss were removed, speeds were corrected. By the way, with different source tracks, the best quality was always chosen. Months of effort went into the project and the Syd community has been well-pleased with the result. The group has also interviewed people who knew Syd like Duggie Fields. These interviews were audio and burned to CD for the fans. The group is ready for the Roger Waters, Dave Gilmour, Nick Mason interviews when they will sit down and talk.
