New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, State Assembly Majority Leader Louis Greenwald, others sued in Federal Court
Popular New Jersey State Governor Chris Christie, often mentioned as a potential Presidential candidate, turned his back on minority children from low income areas, allowing a critical pediatric medical day care center to be closed by the State.

Presidential candidate, turned his back on minority children from low income areas, allowing a critical pediatric medical day care center to be closed by the State, but, only after allowing State Assembly Majority Leader Louis Greenwald to line his pockets with the very Medicaid dollars which were earmarked as support for that very same facility.
Mercer County Children's Medical Day Care Center, a licensed pediatric Medical Day Center in New Jersey, together with the parents of certain child victims, whose critical care has been taken from them, commenced a lawsuit in the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey after a series of recently passed limitations new regulations caused it to close it's doors, stripping away from dozens of children the medical day care and place that they had come to know as their second home. Mercer Medical Daycare filed a lawsuit this week against Governor of New Jersey Chris Christie, New Jersey State Comptroller Mark Anderson, the New Jersey Department of Human Services, the New Jersey Department of Health, as well as government officials and agencies that Mercer Medical Daycare claims infringed on their constitutional rights.
The Complaint, filed today by the law firm of Nesenoff & Miltenberg, LLP, details the manner by which the State of New Jersey violated federal law and sought to punish the Mercer Medical Daycare in retaliation for objecting to radical and questionable changes to the State's regulations. The Complaint alleges that the State's extreme actions forced Mercer Medical Daycare to shut its doors, leaving their pediatric patients without medical services. It is now fighting to reopen their doors so that it may continue treating their patients, and continue its role as a community center, providing support for low income and minority families. Attorney Andrew Miltenberg stated "we are deeply troubled by the lack of Gov. Christie's commitment to the children of the State of New Jersey - out of the public eyes, and beyond the photo opportunities, he has allowed Medicaid funds that were supposed to be used in support of Mercer Medical Daycare, to be manipulated by none other than State Assembly Majority Leader Louis Greenwald, for Greenwald's own gain". Miltenberg went on to note "that Louis Greenwald maneuvered himself and the State's regulation into a position whereby funds meant to support the children went to support Louis Greenwald" and Gov. Christie knowingly turned a blind eye, and then helped to bury the evidence by causing Mercer Medical Daycare doors to be shuttered. It is the children of this minority community, already economically shattered, their hardworking parents, struggling daily to keep food on the table and clothes on their children's backs, that are Gov. Christie's and Assembly Leader Greenwald's victims.... the hubris of those in power in the State of New Jersey is mindboggling".
Mercer Day Care Center has become a bedrock of this community, stated Beverly Grissom, a founder of Mercer Medical Daycare Center, formerly an aide to New Jersey's Acting Governor Donald DiFrancesco, as well as an aide to the Senate Education Committee. Grissom noted that Mercer Medical Daycare serves a community with many single parent households, or where both parents work, and Mercer Day Care Center provides not only a daily safe haven for children, but is able to meet the needs of those children who are medically fragile, giving parents peace of mind as they go about their work day.
