Vietnam tourism takes a plunge
Vietnam National Administration of Tourism must be grousing to see the figures of the international travellers in February suffering a 16.33% plummet compared to the same month of the previous year.

According to Nguyen Quy Phuong, head of the Travel Department, to draw tourists with high spending is not an easy task in view of the current economic obscurity. Guess it would be even harder now for Vietnam to attract more visitors due to the raise of the single-entry visa price from USD25 to USD45. Visitors have kicked up a tremendous fuss as it is almost twice of its original charge.
Yet, visa fees differ from country to country. Take London and Bangkok for instance - A 30-day single entry visa may cost £54 (USD80) when applied from the embassy in the former city and 2,300 baht (USD77) the latter. What's even more wearisome is that travellers have to get in touch with the embassies directly for the most updated fees as they are not usually found on their websites.
Due to the fuzzy visa fees when applied from embassies, Vietnam visa is gaining popularity from savvy travellers. With a clear-cut fee of USD70, traveler gets a single entry visa which permits a stay of 30 days. Visa processing only takes a maximum of 3 working days and the entire process can be done online. The Vietnam visa can only be used for entry by air, but can be used to exit from any port.
