Beaverton, CA (prHWY.com) March 15, 2013 - If you think you are sick and tired of using facebook - you my friend -- are not alone! According to a Pew internet and life project, many facebook users are not as actively using facebook like they use to. Some have already given up using facebook altogether. The Pew survey revealed that many users have taken long extended breaks from using facebook, and are complaining of so called "facebook fatigue". When surveyed on the reason for taking a break from using facebook, 21 percent said they were too busy to use facebook, 10 percent said facebook has become uninteresting to them, and 10 percent said facebook is a waste of time.

Other reasons included: people posting stupid comments on facebook; avoiding friends; too much drama on facebook; people posting pictures of their lunch, dinner, and breakfast on status messages, and finally some stopped using facebook to avoid their ex-lovers.

However, facebook has also become a stomping ground for fraud and identity theft. If you think about it, facebook has all the information an identity thieve needs to know in order to steal your identity. They have your picture, your email address, your street address, and even the name of your spouse. Now, all they need is your social security number, and they should have no difficulty in stealing your identity.

Experts warn that sensitive data containing information such as social security numbers or driver's license numbers can easily be hacked from your computer. If for some reason, you don't have a choice but to store such data on your PC - then you should utilize the various tools available on the web. Using software engineered to lock folders or entire drives work best to protect such sensitive data from e-criminals. Experts warn, you should never give out any personal information to strangers or even your friends - you never who might end up stealing your identity.
