CAT 2013@ 90 % CAT 2012 takers wish CAT twice a year: Prometric survey
Given an option, as much as 90 per cent of the CAT 2012 takers feel they would like to avail the opportunity to improve their percentile of CAT.

Besides MBA aspirants' interest in multiple CAT, the survey also found that a majority of 64 per cent of candidates who took CAT 2012, appeared for the test especially to get admission to their dream IIM's.
"A majority of 64% of the respondents stated that their main reason for taking CAT was to apply to the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), and 90% would consider taking it twice if that option was made available," the survey found.
The survey was conducted at the end of the CAT 2012 testing window and more than 64000 students participated in the survey administered through a third-party online survey tool.
Interestingly, the interest in multiple CAT options follows the pattern where some of the major tests for admission to elite B-schools have already adopted multiple testing options for the aspirants.
For example, NMAT, the written test for admission to the management programmes at Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS), allows a candidate to re-take NMAT for a maximum of two times. This means a candidate can sit for the test with their own choice of dates and schedule for thrice.
Similarly, AICTE conducts CMAT twice a year. As a special case this year, an additional CMAT test is also being conducted in May to allow those candidates to take the test who missed either of the earlier two tests for the admission to a B-school for the academic session (2013-15).
GMAT also allows candidates to take the test for five times in a 12-month period and the test is available for a candidate every 31 calendar days.
Prometric, the testing agency which conducts CAT, the gateway to IIM's and over 100 top B-schools in India, also found that majority of CAT candidates are well adapted to the computer-based format of the prestigious management admission test.
"The IIMs have entrusted Prometric to deliver a consistent and fair testing experience to all CAT candidates," said Soumitra Roy, Managing Director, Prometric India, adding, "We conducted this survey to get feedback from candidates and are delighted to have received positive validation on the quality of our service."
The survey measured satisfaction levels in nine areas of the candidate experience, from pre-exam information through to the registration process, candidate care support and test navigation and functionality. Candidates were asked to rate each area on a five-point scale ranging from 'Very Satisfactory' to 'Very Unsatisfactory'. Seven out of the nine areas received satisfactory ratings from an overwhelming majority (89% - 98%) of the respondents while the remaining two areas received over 85%, making the mean satisfaction level across all areas above 92%.
Prometric Testing Private Limited (Prometric India) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Prometric Inc. and has been present in India since 1997. The agency delivers over 650,000 exams annually through a network of close to 450 testing centres.
