Dr. Armenta's private practice is the culmination of many years of work for the multifaceted surgeon. He first began his years of study at Stanford University, where he earned a Bachelor's of Science in Biology. He then took this much sought-after degree to Baylor College, where he received his medical doctorate. While at Baylor, he went on to a residency in plastic surgery and completed a fellowship in Peripheral Nerves and Microsurgery. The good doctor further stands celebrated in his field as the co-director of the Texas Brachial Plexus Institute, which until recently was part of the Texas Children's Hospital. Armenta has also toured many medical campuses, both in the Americas and in Europe, sharing this unique and specialized expertise with surgeons, and is a well-published author in medical journals.
While he has years of distinguished work with the Baylor Plastic Surgery Program, Dr. Armenta shines in his highly-specialized field: peripheral nerve and brachial plexus surgery. What may speak most to his skill as a healer is the nature of most brachial plexus injuries, being mostly a birth injury - better known as Erb's Palsy. Most often, the upper group of the arm's nerves are injured during birth, though this is not an uncommon injury for motorcyclists. Sometimes, delicate surgery is necessary, which is where experts like Dr. Armenta and his team come in. The skilled network of professionals helps guide patients through the rigors of surgery through the trials of physiotherapy, and onto wellness.
The opening of a practice is no surprise to those who know Dr. Armenta, as he is known for being involved with communities large and small. He gladly and proudly belongs to the two largest guiding bodies for plastic surgeons; the American Board of Plastic Surgeons (where he has been once again recognized as a Diplomat) and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. He is active, too, in more local societies, such as the Texas Society of Plastic Surgeons and the Texas Medical Association, and even volunteers at The Methodist Hospital, where he shares his invaluable experience with plastic surgery residents. Perhaps the only surprise is where he finds the time to help so many people.
